Transient simulation of network battery storage systems

This session will give an overview of the low-level controllers that enable energy storage systems to deliver power to an AC network. The lecture will provide guidelines to set up a typical controller design and will discuss the specific issues related to the voltage dip ride-through requirements and fast frequency support provision. The lecture will also discuss different levels of simplification of the converter dynamics that can be used in order to speed up simulations for network-level studies. By the end of the lecture, the audience will be familiar with the typical converter-level control structures and have a qualitative understanding of the adequacy of the simplified converter models for transient simulations.
