On Robust Stability Criteria for Nonlinear Voltage Controllers in Electrical Supply Networks

Decentralized voltage control (DVC) based on provision of reactive power can avoid grid reinforcement and supply observance of voltage limits. Main objective of this paper is to develop an easy-to-use criterion for the stability analysis of grids consisting of a large number of droop-controlled decentralized power generation systems. For this purpose, a grid with several DVC is modelled as a control system with multiple inputs and multiple outputs (a so-called MIMO system) and stability is examined based on control-theoretical criteria. As a result, a robust small-gain-based stability criterion is presented.
